Florin Mugur has created a distinct literary space, existential and original, imbued with considerable tensions; he has become a prominent figure of the contemporary Romanian poetry.

Florin Mugur (pseudonimul lui Legrel Mugur, 1934-1991), poet, jurnalist, eseist, prozator,
editor român. Este autorul a peste zece volume de poezie, printre care: Cartea
regilor (1970), Cartea prințului (1973), Piatra palidă (1977), Portretul unui necunoscut (1980),
antologia Dansul cu cartea („The Best Poems”, 1981), Viața obligatorie (1983), Spectacol
amânat (1985), Firea lucrurilor (1988); proză și un roman: Ultima vară a lui Antim (1979); trei
volume de interviuri: Convorbiri cu Marin Preda (1973), Profesiunea de scriitor (1979),
Vârstele rațiunii. Convorbiri cu Paul Georgescu (1982); un volum postum de corespondență,
Scrisori de la capătul zilelor (ediție îngrijită de Mircea Iorgulescu, 2002).
Distins cu Marele premiu la Festivalul Internațional de Poezie de la Sarajevo (1968) și, în
repetate rânduri, cu premiul Uniunii Scriitorilor din România.
Florin Mugur (pen name of Legrel Mugur, 1934-1991), Romanian poet, journalist, essayist,
prose writer, editor. He is the author of more than ten volumes of poetry: The Book of Kings
(1970), Book of the Prince (1973), The Pale Stone (1977), Portrait of an Unknown Man (1980),
the anthology The Dance with the Book („The Best Poems”, 1981), Compulsory Life
(1983), Postponed Show (1985), The Nature of Things (1988); prose and one novel: Antim’s Last
Life (1979); three volumes of interviews: Conversations with Marin Preda (1973), The
Profession of a Writer (1979), The Ages of Wisdom. Conversations with Paul Georgescu (1982);
a posthumous volume of correspondence, Letters from the End of Days (edited by Mircea
Iorgulescu, 2002).
Mugur received the Grand Prize of the International Poetry Festival of Sarajevo (1968)
and, repeatedly, awards of the Writers’ Union in Romania.
