Lyra at twenty years old finds herself occupying a world of complex and dangerous factions, Pantalaimon in tow. Malcolm has also grown up, exhibiting a bold sense of moral duty. The characters head to the east, far from Oxford, setting out for a desert city at the centre of the mystery of Dust.
