This book aims to introduce students to classical semiology concepts, including surgical elements and the basics of universal propaedeutics. These concepts underpin the art of diagnosis and form the foundation for all disciplines related to medicine. Similar to how a secret organization has its own language and rituals, semiology structures the diverse branches of pathological studies. Additionally, non-invasive imaging techniques, like duplex ultrasound, boost diagnostic accuracy and patient management.
Our discipline draws from the extensive network of blood vessels. This synthesis does not aim to review anatomy but builds on colleagues' foundational work to outline clinical examinations of arterial and venous circulation. We explore relevant anamnestic elements and symptoms of arterial and venous disorders, familiarizing students with current concepts, staging, and classifications used in hospitals worldwide. We illustrate local clinical examination steps with images from the execution process and clinical archives.
We hope this effort at systematization leads to a more in-depth exploration in the near future and encourages broader initiatives for addressing the various nosological entities studied by advanced students.
