Upon returning home, Clay finds a box with his name on it on his front porch. Inside are 13 cassettes, recorded by Hannah Baker, his classmate who committed suicide just 2 weeks earlier. On the tape, Hannah explains there are 13 reasons why she did it, and Clay is one of them. If he listens, he'll find out why, even though it will change his life forever.
