This work offers a detailed analysis of European Union directives and applies them to various situations involving Internet, digital television and third- generation mobile networks. It anticipates issues and problems that may arise in individual member states when implementing the provisions of the new directives - particularly where provisions of the directive are ambiguous or leave considerable freedom to member states. The new regulatory landscape in the E.U. covers areas such as cable television, satellite television, terrestrial broadcast, IP networks - even electricity networks used to carry data. It requires a complete overhaul of communication laws for E.U. member states and for those hoping to join the E.U.
